WHY BUY IN THE NORTHERN CATSKILLS?

Until recently the Northern Catskills were known for quaint B&B's, resort hotels that offered decaying elegance and some very good ski areas–Windham, Belleayre, and Hunter Mountain. But theses days fabulous new homes are being built on mountain tops and wooded acres. In short, the sleepy and charming valleys and hollows of the Catskills are being rediscovered by those who want to get away from the crowds and traffic of the Hamptons and the Jersey Shore. The Catskills are for those who want to own their own country home away from the crowds… people tired of expensive summer shares and weekends that are more hectic than relaxing.

The new Catskill homesteaders still love the beach, they just can’t stand being in traffic for five hours to get there. And pooling expenses for a $40,000 + summer rental can’t compare to a fabulous three bedroom home that can be acquired with a very reasonable, and affordable ,down payment! A new three bedroom home with lots of amenities on ten acres costs about half what you would pay for a one bed room pad in Manhattan or a house three miles from the beach in the Hamptons. Ask any one who has bought in the Catskills and they will all give you three reasons why they did: “It’s affordable”, “More than one road goes there” and “You don’t have to wear Gucci’s”

But, the best thing about the Northern Catskills versus the beach is there is no off season. All four seasons are spectacular and full of things to do, or not to do.

Affordability and an increasingly attractive return on a home investment are two important reasons to consider a retreat in the Catskills. But, neither reason is as important as location, location, location –the Northern Catskills are simply magnificent and always will be.
