The new Catskill homesteaders still love the beach, they just can’t stand being in traffic for five hours to get there. And pooling expenses for a $40,000 + summer rental can’t compare to a fabulous three bedroom home that can be acquired with a very reasonable, and affordable ,down payment! A new three bedroom home with lots of amenities on ten acres costs about half what you would pay for a one bed room pad in Manhattan or a house three miles from the beach in the Hamptons. But, the best thing about the Northern Catskills versus the beach is there is no off season. All four seasons are spectacular and full of things to do, or not to do.
